Grosvenor park railway.
 

Like Brooksied and Hills this little line is 7.25 inch gauge.
It is situated in Grosvenor park and has one station with a combined shop/ticket office.
It is by no means as long as Brookside with journey times of only 60 seconds but it is a line you could ride on all day when the appropriate traction is being used.

The line has one steam loco which is in a nice sky blue and is in steam every sunday from mid July to october.
The line operates with diesel traction at most other times.
Ticket prices are quite low as they should be at 50p a ride the last time I checked. I advise to go when steaming as there is little or no other railway reference on the site than the short line itself.

Here is my line guide.
Trains leave the station which is complete with enamel advertisment signs and the line swings to the right. Almost straight after leaving the station the train starts across a 15 yard viaduct over the pond (nice if you are into ducks) and then the line swings right again on a curve round the rest of the pond. The park as a memorial park has many paths and some of which the line crosses which can add some extra asthetic pleasure of a steam loco stopping unsuspecting visitors as it pounds through at 5mph. On such a small gauge it feels faster and on the first half where there are no paths the speed is 10mph.
After the crossings the train reaches the station.
There you go probably one of th shortest guids I will ever do.:D

My advice: This is important. Do not go during school holidays as the line is open during all of these according to staff. I went in august for the seventh time and I could not get on the train as it was full of passengers under five and to be honest I would look like a plonker.
Go at other times and thats when the 'big kids' come out.
There is not enough at the line to have a full day out but it is worthy supplement to a journey to this scenic and historic city and i would fully recomend a trip on the river Dee.

Because of phenominal location it doesn't need too much on site and because of that I give it an 8/10.
There is some good spotting to be done at the mainline station too.

There is no website but there are plenty of tourist websites to choose from.

Are we to assume that this is in Chester?
