Model carriage shed
 

Well after the station masters house I thought I would find some photo's of carriage sheds and build one to an LMS / GCR design to fit the area I am modelling.
What a task in the end I had to decide to freelance the model as I wanted it to cover 3 coaches minimum which means it needs to be 80cm long at least and cover 2 tracks (that's the number of carriage sidings to my station.

So armed with some basic ideas I cut out and glued 7cm high strips of card together lining front and back to prevent too much warping. then cut out 3cm windows at 1cm apart (yes I got 25 per side) but then I craftily decided to blank off half of them as if they had been filled in at a later date.

So as of tonight I have glued the sides and ends onto a frame at gutter height next is a set of skeletal roof trusses down the building and a roof that is more "glass" than slate.

The design is easy, the dimensions are too
Door opening width for 2 track must be a minimum of 92.5 mm (3 tracks it would be 125mm) track centres are 50mm for OO course scale and there must be 12.5mm from each track centre to the door edge,
The door opening must be a minimum height of 66mm.

Everything else is relative to how large you want to build the shed

obviously it is short of Guttering, Window Sills (stone or brick ????hmm which) and the roof work to be done yet

Looking good Gray. How did you make the windows or did you manage to buy some. At some stage I want to build a model of Wirksworth Engine Shed (drawings and photos are in the Wirksworth Branch Book).

Station Master's House looks good. Could inspire me to get some building done!

Have you seen David Wright's DVD: "Constructing Model Buildings in a minature landscape." He is at most exhibitios in the Derbyshire Area. He is due to be at Stafford next weekend and I have booked him to be at Belper Model Railway Group Open Day on
April 2nd.

Windows easy

Drew one in indian ink on clear plastic then photographed it using M$ Paint multiplied it shrunk it & enlarged it so I've got different sizes of window - then print out on to overhead film let it dry and Hey Presto 40 odd windows on 2 pieces of film, and they are mine not copyright anyone else so easy to distribute if anyone wants

At present working on a window film for the roof of the carriage shed

I've attached two shots one showing it with two coaches at an angle (and the wall do not lean it's the angle of the shot) and the second taken as the earlier post

Now the shots are uploaded I've noticed how good quality the phone I used gives
