Cabview of dual gauge line in Sweden
 
I posted a pic in the gallery recently showing a narrow gauge steam train on the dual gauge (891 mm/1435 mm) line between Jenny and Västervik.

Today I found a movie from that line, filmed from a narrow gauge railbus the same day I was there.

Västervik-Jenny.

In the beginning they talk about that if an elk steps up on the line in front of them, the driver will leave the cab first :)
And then in the end, they talk about that two green lights mean "Clear, maximum 30 km/h" on the narrow gauge but "Clear, maximum 40 km/h" on the standard gauge.

Where do you see three red lights?
In the signal close to the end, at Jenny, there are two green in the left signal and one red in the right. That means "Clear, maximum 30", route set to narrow gauge.
But three lights? Maybe you see three different signals all showing stop?

I'm pretty sure it is trackside and not for the road. Although there is another structure behind it - what is that?

There were also two others elsewhere. I realise signals will change to red as the train passes them, but not usually until the cab is level.

I watched the video again and there is one like Wyvern describes after 1 minute and another about 2 1/2 minutes. They certainly appear to be railway equipment.

Ah. It is orange, not red, thats why I got confused :)
But with bad quality on the video I sure looks like red for someone that does not know that it is orange :D

Anyway: It is a distant road crossing signal. (Press the orange text to show the aspect)
Three orange lights: Crossing secured (Called "Pass")
Three orange flashing lights: Crossing not secured. (Called "Stop")
And then at the crossing there is a light signal that shows white (Secured) or red (Not secured)

The structure behind it is the backside of two signals (narrow gauge and standard gauge), propably "Infartssignaler" (Entry signals) for Västervik.

I'm working on a site in english about swedish signalling. It is not finished yet. We have several different systems. Jenny (end of the video, standard gauge) - Bjärka-Säby - Linköping and Bjärka-Säby - Rimforsa have radio blocking.
