Hi Steve, great video. I just love the sound of that whistle.

Interesting timing for this post. Continuing the theme of wheelslip perhaps ?

Best wishes, BW

G'day BW,
Ah, you could squiz me video clip upload, I was not sure if it came out ok.
Also I did a typo with the title, Should be Maydena.
Yes, I have squizzed a bit of soot belcher wheel slip over the years.
And, naturally suffered the occasional wheel slip on a diesel during icy conditions.
But the best wheel slip capers were aboard them Pommy Metro Vickers 46 class electrics.
They had an individual wheel slip sound.
One bloke at LMC could mimic that sound very well.
And, such could take a novice by surprise to react as if the loco was wheel slipping.
Metal wheels on metal rails, great fun.
One crew caused some mega damage to the rails on the climb to Zig Zag.
The train slipped to a stand and they sat there attempting to get mobile again.
The locos going into full wheel spins.
That ground divots into the rail head.
For a couple of weeks after, a TSR was plonked on the location.
As you rattled through them divots the engines shook and shuddered.
The rail welders finally got up there to repair them divots.
A bit like playing a bad game of golf, dig divots everywhere.
Steve.
