Looks like Branson was correct when he said "First Group sums do not add up" --- the government appear to have found reverse gear again!!

And WE the taxpayer will be footing the bill again.

We certainly will if they nationalise it as has been reported.

It seems strange that after several rounds of these bids for different franchises someone suddenly decides that the process is flawed and will need to be rerun. Am I missing something here?

The civil service reverse the old saying; Pay oodles of money and get monkeys. Think of decisions made by the DoT in the past 10 years and not one has been any good; WCML upgrade, East coast franchises, Bombardier, Virgin, need I go on?
