Newbie in Wales
Hi everyone,
Just registered on this board - seems like a friendly place. I am a big fan of HSTs. I have wanted for years to see inside the cab of a Class 43 loco, see the engines etc. Does anyone know if this is ever possible? All the best folks Hugh |

Hello e39driver and welcome to the Railway Forum. I hope you get your chance to have a look around the cab of a Class 43.

Welcome to the Forum e39Driver. I think most of us have an affection for the HST. Certainly my favourite way to travel on the modern railway. (Steam special excepted of course!)
Best wishes, John H-T |

Hi Hugh
welcome the to the Railway Forum. The HST's are a great machine although I prefered the Valenta's sound to the current engines. Regards |

The HST have not done bad for a stop-gap solution for BR Derby, after the abandonment of the APT. |

It is possible for anyone to get a cab ride on a loco because the operating company only have to give you a safety briefing, issue you with a red cab pass and have a manager accompany you on the footplate...... but TOCs tend to be far too busy to do this for people nowadays. The other option is to wait until Class 43s go into preservation, then you can crawl all over them. It'll be a while yet, but it's gonna happen. Best wishes, FP |
Thanks for all your replies guys. Hugh
