I was fortunate to buy one of the late Al Hodge's amps a Marshall JCM 2000-60w Super Lead it is a realy beautiful sound. He was smashing bloke so sad he died at only 55 WHY ????????????????:( :( ccmmick. |
Valve amps are for weightlifters! :)

It's all the "iron" (transformers etc) that does it !!:D Most of my other amps are lightweight by comparison.;) |
My Fender Twin Reverb lives on the floor nowadays; I reckon if I attempted to put it somewhere higher up I'd either throw m back out, or develop an immediate hernia! It was far too heavy when I got it secondhand in 1974, and I was reasonably fit then. I moved to a flat in Southsea in 1980, it was up five flights of stairs. Uuurgh. Since I'd got six guitars at the time as well, I came to an arrangement with the local pub landlord - I could keep all the gear in the large pub kitchen free of charge, providing that we could occasionally jam in the pub during afternoon closing hours. Suited me fine! ;)

Back in the late 60s i bought first secondhand Marshall head amp and a 4x12''cabinet from Plymouth i only had a three wheel van at the time a bit like Del boy only mine was blue.
We used to do gigs in Truro Newquay Penzance St Austell i used to take as much in the van and the drummer used to take what he could in his ford anglia van plus singer and bass player quite a squeeze. How the two vans lasted i do not know. ccmmick. |

I regularly had 4 of us in my Mk2 Sprite,
For a squash try 4 in a Messerschmidt bubble car, two in the back and one on my lap. Fun days indeed. John (G) |

Isettas were OK until you parked with the front up against a wall,
Unless you had a car license that is. Reverse was blanked off for driving on a motorbike one. Mine opened sideways and you got out of the top but by my time the rule had been done away with so 4 forward and 4 reverse gears. Sometimes I wish I still had it. John (G) PS Did burst my bubble one night but that is a different stoiry. |
I borrowed a sprite once and towed it to a scout camp which our sons were attending.
Lovely it was - all sat round the camp fire toasting marshmellows on sticks and eating burgers/drinking beer till all hours. Those were the days. At last I get a chance to switch the thread from amps and cars to something I enjoy - caravans!!! |
I'll ask my uncle Jeremy about those Sprites ,Mine was an Austin Squealy.
