There's too much of this type of incident, can't cab windscreens be made to withstand this sort of impact.

Most of these brick throwing nutters get clean away with what is really intent to kill.

The windows in locos are very strong but if hit at speed by a brick something has to go these idiots are mindless gits and like you say never caught.

I remember a 67 on shed with the front window broken by a brick i asked the fitter how much is a new one he said £3000 that was about 10 years ago.
But that is nothing against a life.

WHY do idiots do this? I sincerely hope the driver gets over this Nasty experience.

reflector 17th December 2009 08:47

If the culprit is caught, I hope that the charge will be attempted murder.

garrat 17th December 2009 10:00

trouble is they let them off now with a warning and maybe a stupid ankle bracelet that they can remove.I spent years as an artic driver and this happened several times if you saw kids on a bridge you nearly allways expected it . mostly on the m6 near Birmingham.Reflector is right attempted murder as several drivers have been killed by this.As for a train travelling at speed the driver would stand no chance.

John H-T 17th December 2009 10:08

This does need to be treated as attempted murder. Until it is and some characters are sent down for lengthy sentences idiots will continue to put drivers lives at risk.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

At Roskear between Redruth and Camborne the bastard idiots there used to tie a brick and tie the other end to the overbridge the train comes along at 70mph the poor driver has a brick looking at him.

A few years back, a train driver from Fratton lost an eye, and his job, when a brick was suspended on a piece of string and smashed through the glass. It was a fairly common occurrence, and drivers would quickly move from the driving seat if they spotted kids on a bridge, just to avoid being badly injured. Culprits should be suspended by their bol***ks by a piece of string from a bridge themselves, then they would be on the recieving end for a change. Now, if I was in charge....

the line from man vic to huddersfield is a brick throwing hotspot[between the disused park and clayton bridge stations]in manchester, gangs on either side of the railway fight[the clayton wars its called]usually in the six weeks holidays, many trains are hit and many were cancelled for up to six hours around 5 years ago it was that bad, where do the parents think these vandals are?another hotspot is moston station which is 2 miles away and in the country's top 10 worst for vandalism, kids as young as 8-10 were on the platform and the toilet window went in after the young yobs threw something, iwas sat next to it and it could of easily of gone through my window..stupid idiots need to be dealt with..properly and not a slap on the wrist.
