Help, Possible trainspot mistake
Hi as i'm sure you can gather from the title i think i have made a mistake in one of my trainspots and it's driving me crazy!! I had just finished at my particular spot and as i walked away a train came so i quickly jotted down the number and off i went. The number i wrote down was 67133 although i thought all the 67 class were EWS however i swear this was a south west train. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me whether i've just writen down a wrong number or that this is actualy write.
Thanks! (p.s. As you can probaly guess i am very new to the hobby, i origanaly collected the n-gauge models which got me in to the hobby.) |
Welcome to the Forum Matt. I am sure someone will come up with some ideas!
Best wishes, John H-T. |

67133 doesn't exist so it has to be a mistaken number. 66133 as far as I'm aware is in EWS livery, but there is a possibility it could have been 66713 which is in dark blue GBRf colours. I personally would treat it as a missed 'spot' and not lose any sleep over it ! :D |
Hi Matt and welcome to the Railway Forum. I was also an 'N' gauge modeler but due to failing eyesight I have moved up to '00'.

There were only 30 Class 67's built, numbered from 67001 to 67030. I think they are all still in running order apart from the one that was involved in the crash in the South West a few years ago (67004?), so unless one of them has been renumbered to work for a different company, it must be the equivalent of a typo. Was it perhaps 66133?

hello and welcome to the forum matt446574
as for 67133 there is no such engine. the numbers series for 67 is 67001 up to 67030 so its more like 66133 if so its in ews livery and code location is toton regards- berwickspotter |
If it was in SWT livery, it wont be a 66 or a 67 I guess...could it have been a Unit or was it def a loco? (is there a class 467 for instance?

Just for your info Dynamo, 67004 is back in traffic and has been for some time now. Its mainly on the Waverly-Fort Bill sleepers but can on occasions venture to Aberdeen and Inverness. Les |
Thanks everyone for the welcome! I think it may have been a unit or something but as John Hunt said i will treat this as a missed spot. There seems to be a definate link between everyones replies so i think it's a lost cause. However i now would like to see a "real" class 67 just for future reference. Does anyone know whether or not they run in the south, I think most of them are up north but if anyone knows of any in the south i would be good.
Thanks again for the welcoming!! |
Hello Matt and welcome to the forum.

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum.
You want to see a 67? Imagine a skip turned upside down with wheels under it and an EWS paint job - there; saved you wondering! Enjoy your spotting. |
Welcome aboard, Matt !
Here's a 67 at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago - http://www.railwayforum.net/gallery/...00&ppuser=2327 :D |
Wrexham & Shropshire use 67s on their service to Marylebone, which is south as far as we in Cheshire are concerned !
This is what they look like http://martin-grosberg.fotopic.net/p56591996.html http://martin-grosberg.fotopic.net/p53965410.html |

Really does look like a skip! |
Ok i will keep an eye out for one. Also ,Tony, now you mention in most trains do look like a skip, that is apart from steam locos though.

or vintage diesels !

'school boy errors!'
the only thing i could recomend is check stock exchange in 'the railway magazine' or you could of seen the number of a skip upside down!but as people have mensioned there are only 30 class 67's ever built and some of them are on loan to wrexham&shropshire, but i heard about them being on demand, but i got a feiling you saw a class 73 ed because thats the only thing nearest a class 67 they own

Hi MATT, this will be my 1st comment on the foram site but here goes,
from memory only 30 class 67s were built so therefore 67030 would be the highest number, unless modifications have been carried and been given new numbers. hope this helps, mick farmer, milton keynes |

Not sure where you were when you saw this but it sound like you took down a carriage number off the side of an EMU. I looked up the number ranges of EMUs and 67133 is a carriage number in the range used by the South West Trains "Desiro" Class 444 units: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_444 These run express services from Waterloo to the south and south west of England. If you have a spotting book, you should be able to cross reference the unit number (the one on the front of the unit) with the carriage number, if you find the section that covers class 444. |
Don't know how far south you are but if you're still looking for a 67 theres usually one at the end of the platforms at Kings X. NXEC use it for rescuing their failed trains
