Best Freight Livery

what is the best freight livery
GBRF.EWS.DRS.COLAS RAIL.FREIGHTLINER.WEST COAST RAILWAYS.
COTSWOLD ADVENZA. ETC ??

SalopianGrowler 27th March 2009 09:25

Loadhaul. It looked the part on everything.

HelloControl 27th March 2009 10:23

Yes, I would go for LoadHaul too.

berwickspotter 27th March 2009 10:46

well if we are going back that far i would say RES LIVERY
and i also like EWS

John H-T 27th March 2009 11:14

I love the DRS Compass Livery. Also like the understated West Coast Livery, but that is really passenger.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

SalopianGrowler 27th March 2009 15:18

I'm with you on your first comment John, it looks alot more lively than the older 'patch' livery, although it does become abit messy on the 20s and 37s. Although I'm against the WCRC livery myself, it is too dark, but thats just me being fussy ;)

Now that EWS is now known as DB Schenker Rail (UK), I think the new livery is quite striking, though perhaps a bit too red for some people tastes! :)

SOUTHEASTERN-465 8th April 2009 16:03

Best Is Lh!!

my favorite companys are DRS and GBRF,but the best livery has got to go to LOADHAUL,it's probaly the best out of all freight companys past and present.

i would also like to say 'LOADHAUL' livery would match on any freight loco, anyone agree?(espicially class 66s)

and i think that the DB SHCENKER livery looks like a tangerine that is even to orange for itself!!!!!!

berwickspotter 9th April 2009 21:47

Into steam never been out of steam:p when I first got interested in railways there were very few main line diesels the first time I went to Grantham the only diesels I saw were 2 rail cars one doing the Grantham-Nottingham Victoria branch the other did the Grantham-Lincoln service.

PS I did like the two tone green that the Brush type 4s & class 25s were painted in when first built.

setam braggers

i very much like steam ,but i wasnt there to see them,so how can other enthusiasts 'EXPECT' me and others to like steam as much as them,im a big fan of slammers' and 80s' and 90s EMU's but if some of my mates dont like them thats because they like steam, and they have no problem with them, but it just seems steam enthusiast talk down to people who like EMUs or trains like them,im not saying all of them do it but it just seems if you want to get kids into trains let them choose there own locos they like?i like 0-6-0Ts very much, but im not saying all you steam enthusiasts are like it but some of you's are, does any one agree with the issue that, some steam lovers talk down to EMU' and DMU' lovers?

Gandalf 10th April 2009 13:49

Regarding Freight Liveries I suppose I live in the past,
Private owner wagons in all colours (mostly a bit subdued though). Trains made up from an assortment of different wagons except coal trains, red oxides, greys, blacks, flaking paint on wooden bodies and of course rust. Locos a dirty black with rusty highlighting or streaks of lime from water treatment for steam, dirty blues and greens for diesels. None of theses fancy colour schemes of the present day nor a caterpillar of wagons all looking the same none of which seem to have any character worth remarking on, only containers now have any individuality.
Personally I am quite happy living with my memories.

I have no problem with modern traction times have changed but I do find DMUs/EMUs a trifle boring most look the same to me.

Does it make a loco, DMU/EMU any better if the livery is changed.

I can honestly say I've never noticed it. Up here on the East Lancs we've got people who are interested in steam, diesel, multiple units and even trams, but we all accept each other. There is a bit of banter, the usual stuff about kettles and tin cans, but it's all good natured.

robdog 11th April 2009 11:09

to get back on topic:

1.Loadhaul.It was an awesome colour scheme that would suit any loco
2.Mainline Aircraft Blue.Looks fantastic when loco was fresh out of the box
3.The yellow 'Infrastructure' livery as applied to 31116 and 47803

SOUTHEASTERN-465 11th April 2009 12:37

thanks guy's,
it's just some steam lovers do this to me,not all of you, most of the other enthusiasts who like steam have a little joke around about steam are better the multiple units, but some others really talked down to me,thanks for your replys, but a reply to bubblewrap,i like EMU's and DMU's even if there livery are changed, the livery dosnt matter it could be bright pink and say 'BARBIE' on the side its if you like the class itself, like SouthEastern for exsample im not a big fan of there livery, but i still love class 465s.hope this ansered your Questions, cheers again for your replys,
SouthEastern-465,Nsers member

BR Railfreight!
The livery all 58's were painted in when brand new.

trainfreek1992 7th December 2009 16:26

DRS for me! ;) LOL

robdog 14th December 2009 11:41

Loadhaul followed by Mainline Aircraft Blue

Dave Rowland 14th December 2009 12:00

Red stripe railfreight livery, closely followed by large logo blue, as used on the Scottish 37s. Two-tone green weren't bad either.

pcuser42 14th December 2009 19:35

KiwiRail. :D

Gandalf 15th December 2009 09:51

I'm afraid none of those,
How about dirty black liberally coated with limescale and rust circa 1960?
John G)

ccmmick 15th December 2009 11:31

I think Loadhaul has to be the best livery ever
the 60s looked very striking in black and orange.

ccmmick.

saxokid 16th December 2009 02:03
