Hello (an introduction)
Hello everybody,
I've heard of this forum only today when I got the first issue of my brand new subscription to 'Railways illustrated' magazine and there was a big huge page dedicated to this forum. Being interested as I am in railways all over the world I'm happy to learn and share knowledge about trains (well, I'm not an expert, but since I was a child I was a big fan of trains), I thought it would be interesting to join this community. I find the interest that lots of people have in railways in the UK is amazing; the heritage train preservation in there seems to be a big thing and I really love that. I'm reading now 'Fire & steam'; I guess that helped me a bit too... So, a bit like Manuel in 'Fawlty towers' (I'm from Madrid but I live in Barcelona), excuse me if I make some mistakes writing in English, please :) Kind regards, |

Hello and welcome to the forum Albert.

Thanks everybody for the welcome!
I'm trying to organize my photos and checking if there are some of them that you could find interesting... and I just realized that most of them are not from Spanish railways! I guess it's because you take more photos when you're on holidays :) But even though our trains are getting a bit boring when it comes to design and colours (you know we only have an operator - Renfe - and most of the stock is painted in white with a few lines varying from orange to purple), our fleet is still interesting, and it's improving a lot (you've probably heard of Renfe's announcment saying that by 2010 its fleet its going to be the most modern of Europe)... the bad thing is that with all the AVE services the conventional ones are dissapearing, destroying the social purpose of probably the most convenient public transportation system. After all the experiences in other countries I'm looking forward to discuss with you guys how's the present and how'll be the future of railways; these are interesting times, for the good and the bad, so let's enjoy it! But, again, and the most important thing, thanks a lot! Kind regards, |
Welcome Albert all the best phil.
