Hi from Manchester
 

Hi all

Just joined, Old Trafford, Manchester born & bred, 53yo.

Earliest memories of Manchester, Manchester to Altrincham electric service, Trafford Park steam shed, Manchester Central station, Midland Pullman.

Electric service over Woodhead.

Going on holiday to Great Yarmouth in about 1962, leaving Mcr Piccadilly steam hauled and arriving in Great Yarmouth diesel hauled.

As I got older, I had a cousin in Cheadle, and have vivid memories of the NEW electric Manchester to London service rattling through Cheadle at 100mph.

Hi Pete my wife is from your part of the world Eccles, we sometimes stay with her sister who has a pub in Barton Road. I'm a Londoner myself and that's where we live.

That's spooky, I live in Eccles now, what's the name of the pub? there's 3 or 4 Barton Roads around here. (I can guarantee I've been in it)

Hi Pete the name of the pub is 'The Dutton Arms' they also had 'The Packet' jusr along the road.

Yes locojoe, have been in both, know them very well, both ex Boddingtons pubs, the amber nectar of choice for all around Manchester in them days.

5690 Leander (The driver didn't seem too concerned about any speed limits He he).

Excellent engine, I was on the Midland 4F (44422) when I did mine a couple of years back. I can assure you that we do stick to our speed limits, honest;) !
