Hello Ladies & Gents

Hello chaps & chapettes,

Have been browsing around the forums and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the information here!

I'm somewhat of a closet train fan if you will. Not too sure why, but I'm fascinated with trains and the lines of which they run upon.

I look forward to a long stay, and (hopefully!) a warm welcome.

Regards,
Stu

Welcome to the forum Stu. I've always been fascinated by trains.

Hello Stu and welcome.
Hope you enjoy the forum.

Hi Stu'
It doesn't matter if you are a closet train fan as long as you are a fan.
Welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum Stu, I'm not sure how many chapettes are members of the forum.

Trev 11th December 2007 01:36

Welcome to the forum Stu. When you describe yourself as a 'closet train fan', do you mean that you don't admit to an interest in railways in your daily life?

Hello Stu, welcome to the Forum, you will get all the help and assistance from the members on here, they are a great lot.

Chris.

Welcome.

look forward to your views on life and on (our) secret affliction. I dont admit I'm a "train spotter" in public either

I do. I confront the car lovers and the 'anorak' jibes head on! :D

Good for you Trev.
There is something sadly wrong when the biggest slob alive can be considered cool and macho simply by having an interest in cars or sport whilst having a interest in railways gets you branded as a weirdo.

EuroStar 12th December 2007 10:40

I think being interested in railways is cooler than being interested in cars or sport.

pavorossi 12th December 2007 13:19

Hello ad welcome Stu. I'm openly a railway enthusiast, I don't care what people think.

Shed Cat 12th December 2007 19:36

What I realy need is a 30 second (or shorter) explanation of my railway interests before the listener switches off or comes back with a predictable joke.

"I am interested in trains" is answered with "So you're a trainspotter then" or "Where's your anorak?"

"I am intertested in Heritage Engineering" stops the jibes, but sounds rather pretentious.

"I love the smell of steam and hot oil in the morning" gets them backing towards the door ! and is a rotten chat up line as well.
