A4s,GREAT GATHERING,NRM YORK 26 oct - 8th nov

:)26 October until the 8 November. this is the next date for the 6 A4s alltogether again i will certainly be going as i realy enjoyed it in july at the last one if anyone else is going give us a shout maybe could meet up at the same event ? Last time i went around 14.30 on the afternoon and by 5 ish it cleared a lot and the museum staff got us behind the turntable to get some super people clutter free shots this was great and i still had to be thown out at six when it closed lol :)

Hi Fifty A,
I too had a great time at the first event and paid the £15 to get in before the crowds. It was worth every penny. As a matter of interest Barrow Hill will be putting on a show with 4 of the A4's in February 14. That should be a good event, to see them in an original shed environment.
Anyway all the best and enjoy
Cheers
Phil

Thanks for the reminder I must try to get there as I missed the last one. Have a definite plan to get to Shildon in February.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

I Hope to be there on 30th with a grandson who now likes railways, and especially steam. This will also be his first ride on a train, and he's just turned 10.
:)

yes,a brilliant show of the best six [streaks] all together at york earlier. will go to see them at shildon in feb.

Silver Fox Phil 23rd October 2013 18:41

The streaks (four of them) now look likely to be at the Barrow Hill roundhouse in February. Not quite sure which yet but certainly one of the visitors will be there.
Hope so
Cheers
Phil

A chap I know from my Kings Cross days was at York on Sat 26th October. He along with other KX firemen went as guests of the NRM and they spoke to the public about their experiences firing A4s on BR.

bramleyman 30th October 2013 21:13

Didn't get there today as hoped, but have received some cracking photo's from a mate who went on Monday. Now I intend going on Saturday.

locojoe 8th November 2013 09:23

Good Link

Link shows several utube videos about the great gathering at York. One of the videos is interesting as it shows several Kings Cross footplatemen who worked on A4s talking about their experiences.

Sadly, I had to cancel my trips to York through illness, so all being well, I will get to see this collection in 2014.

I have also missed The Great Gathering due to my wife being very ill. I very nearly lost her. As we will have our 41st anniversary on the 1st Jan 2014 she had to come before my hobby (or I would never see that anniversary).

Sorry to hear about your wife Syd, hope she feels better soon.

DSY011 8th November 2013 23:49

She is on the mend, but it will be 5 to 6 months before she is back to normal. The last time she was really ill was before we were engaged, over 43 years ago. This time she lost most of her Pancras so she will have to be very careful from now on. That means no more lemonade or even grapes.

John H-T 10th November 2013 20:37

So sorry to hear about your wife Syd. Hope she continues to make a steady recovery.

I did get to York at last on Friday. Fortunately it was not to busy. Might post a couple of photos if I have any which have not already been covered.

Hope to make Shildon in February and Barrow Hill.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Well I was sorry to hear you not being well Bramleyman and you missed the occasion. Also so sorry to hear your wife has been ill too Syd. Really hope she will be ok.
Having been to York the first time round I can say how impressed I was to see six streaks together. Hope you guys get the chance too, but families must come first.
Wishing you all the best and speedy recoveries
Regards
Phil
