Hi there

Hi there,

I'm Jeff and I come from the Roman City of Chester.

I have been a railway enthuiast since a young age, and mostly interested in Steam.

I occasionally volunteer at the Ffestiniog Railway in the P-Way department, and also spent 3 years as a loco cleaner at Llangollen.

I look forward to being part of this forum for many years.

Jeff

Hi Jeff and welcome to the Forum.

As you can see I am involved with the Patriot Project so visit Llangollen several times a year. I will next be up for all three days of the April Gala with the sales stand.

I also work with the per way and steam departments at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, near Derby.

Look forward to your posts.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the warm welcome to the Railway Forum.

Unfortunately, I left Llangollen at the end of 2012, and I no longer go there as a volunteer. I don't want to discriminate the railway but I had my reasons for leaving I'm afriad:(

At this moment I'm enjoying being a free agent (as they say in football) and have enjoyed making visits to preserved railways in attending their Steam Gala's.

Sorry to hear about Llangollen Jeff and seriously hope it wont kill your enjoyment of your hobby elsewhere! At least there are plenty of other heritage railways to visit!
look forward to your posts all the same.
All the best
Phil

Cheers Phil,

Don't get me wrong, Llangollen Railway is set in one of the most beautiful parts of North Wales, and the scenery is just out of this world.

One thing I will take is that in my 3 years on the footplate roster there was that I fired some cracking engines, 7822 'Foxcote Manor' and Black 5 44806 from the home fleet. Plus 70000 'Britannia' and 'City of Truro' as a few of the visiting engines I've had the pleasure of firing.

I'm currently looking at 4 possible railways, but have yet to decide which 1 I will join as a loco cleaner yet!

Very envious of your history. Must have been great to run on the Brit. Were you on when Pete Waterman was on the footplate too?
Anyway good look in your hunt and hope it all works out for you.
Cheers
Phil

Unfortunately no, I was on the Brit on the Monday & Friday of Steel, Steam & Stars 3. I would love to have had a go on the N2 and 828 when they were there but 4 people would have made it a bit cramped on their footplates.
