Freight time table???
 

Just wondering how to get the freight time table as I've only found one web site called freightmasters but you got to pay for it... Can anyone sujest a FREE website to find out what's running!!!

No-one has said publicly why but I have heard a TOC complained ????? which one
the best thing to do is write down all the local times they pass where you go and hang out on forums such as www.wwwwagons.com and find the Headcode from there

If you can one for Chesterfield would be WONDERFUL although I think I need to start getting up earlier in the morning keep hearing freights as I lay in bed around 7-8am

I'm not sure how long this will remain accessible to the general public but the Network Rail working timetables for passenger, freight and departmental trains are here.

It states on the front page that the timetables show passenger and freight workings,but the folders I've looked at (especially PB as that's my area) show only passenger services.

Anyone know the codes for southwest?? God there's loads to chose from ;)

For your area the passenger working timetable is PC 04 and the freight one is PF 18.
There is an "index" at the bottom of the list of code folders which makes finding the correct code much easier.

Just one question, call me thick on this but is the times everyday & every weekend??

It states at the top of each timetable page the days on which the times apply. e.g. Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays. In the case of the Mondays to Fridays trains some only run on certain days and this is indicated at the top of the timing column by a code such as MO (Mondays Only) or ThX (Thurdays excepted). Sometimes the times are only applicable on a certain date or between certain dates and these are also stated.

But you have to be careful with this little gem as it is NOT a timetable, whatever NR call it. It is a list of timed paths. There is a HUGE difference.

In other words, it shows the slot that is available to run a said train should it need to be run. As an example, there is a train shown going into and out of a siding at Eccles, near Manchester. I can assure you that this service has not run for a number of years, as the state of the track attests. But the booked path remains, just in case.

Having said that, in some locations it should be a good indication of when to expect a train that you know does run.

Just downloaded and looked through PF18 (Exeter to Penzance). At Newton Abott there are very few freight trains to be seen, certainly as rare as rocking horse droppings during daylight hours although a couple are listed.

I'm trying to get to Foxton to see the spoil trains going to Barrington quarry.

Using Realtime Trains web site I can select freight only times for a specified day and plan my visit accordingly.

I've not used this web site before but I will in future.:D
