Working for EWS have you ever had any involvement with the royal train? (if you have I assume that you can't say too much) |
I havent in recent years but in BR days Charlie boy visited Bradford and I was the shunter on duty at the time so best overalls that day, however a ballast train arrived at the same time that was over-length and the signaller put it in the adjacent platform so it was unable to run round (Bradford Interchange is a dead end station for those not familliar) so in Charles absence we used his ex-works 47 to take 5 or 6 of the rudd wagons off the rear of the train and put them in the wall side siding and then release the ballast loco by moving the remainder of the rudds into the far platform, not a very glamourous duty for a royal loco.

It's always good to see one of the present royal 67's on lowly duties. I saw "Queens Messenger" at Warrington the other day on coal wagons. |
That one was at scunthorpe on goole scunthorpe steel tripper last year, i have a pic somewhere I also have a pic of myself at the controls of 67029 in scunthorpe anchor sidings .
