I really must get round to removing most of the new ballast on my layout and replacing it with more authentic "dirty" looking stuff. Maybe something for Christmas!

Hi Alex looks good, keep up the work.

Ted you can tone ballast down with a a mix of matt red and matt red enamel about 2/1 in favour of the black. Thin it down with white spirit into a runny mix apply with a fairly large brush and let it soak in.

Try it a small bit first!!!:)

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments. The coal truck is now finished and heading for the paint shop. I've also finished some more of the layout, so I'll post more photos tomorrow.

Hi,

As promised some more piccies of my layout. The right hand side, as you look through the door, is almost done. Still a number of finishing touches to do but the basics are all done. Still working on the tunnel area at the bottom corner.

The small coal yard will be removed as I'm putting in a bigger one on the opposite side. That's a work in progress at the moment, as are the Bedford coal trucks. There'll be 3-4 in total.

Looks good Alex. Great bit of scratch-building especially when you think how small it is.

Looks like you are making great progress Alex. I like the cattle dock.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Hi,

Thanks for your kind comments.

John H-T,

The cattle dock was one of my first scratchbuilds. It's made from balsa wood.

My coal truck has come out of the paint shop, although I still have some finer details to do, such as a coal load, rolled up tarpaulin and coal bags. I still have to try and make some decals as well. That may take a while.
