I would say i have a later make of them as those look like they have been made a few years earlyer

There are 9 pages of level crossings on e-bay but none like yours.:(

If the Gates are the same height as a current 00 Scale Loco the Chances are they are 0 gauge. The box also looks the same as other Bassett Lowke pre-war products. I have also seen a picture of a Bassett Lowke Level Crossing that looks very similar.

Have you tried laying a piece of 00 gauge track by the gate?

Philip, I checked ebay too, to no avail, and been working my way through the google results.
John, I'm just getting my N gauge models out of storage, but I may have the odd bit of OO tucked away somewhere, so I'll try to find it and try it.

I concur the single track Triang OO gauge ones only have one gate each side but the ones I've seen in tin plate are painted with a roadway

Looks like it could be 00. The packaging leads me to believe that it is prewar or very early post war (late 1940's)

Pre-war 00 would be a choice of Trix, Bing or Hornby.

Hi Martyn, Just checked out the link and it looks promising as it is a No.1243 level crossing. Shame it has no picture! Can't find out much more about Crescent, but found some products listed for sale on a vintage models website. The level crossing they had on there is slightly different & incomplete, but could be a later version. Also on there is a Crescent signal gantry that we definately had when I was a kid, so it's making this sound even more possible. http://www.vintagemodeltrains.biz/co..._cresecnt.html
