Looks like I'm another June 2009 joiner.

My enthusiasm for railways has varied up and down from childhood spotting to just recently, but this forum has given me a much broader understanding of all matters railway and awakened an interest in things other than steam.:D

Also the friendly banter (don't mention cats) and large number of "diamond geezers" on here makes it a pleasure to be a member.

Well done to us all.;):D

Well done John, joining the Rail Forum was one of the best things I have ever done along with being a life member of the ELR, I am out almost every day with my mate Alan taking pictures for the forum and the truck and bus forum and the world photography forum, it keeps us both fit. I will be at the ELR this weekend at Rawtenstall and Irwell Vale that will be Saturday. Here is to the next year John, all the best.

Have a good day on Saturday Chris, I hope you get some good shots.
Sunday sees Mr Riley's pair of black fives on the service trains(subject to both being fine after being out on the big railway)the first time they have both been rostered on the ELR together.
We must meet up sometime in the not too distant future Chris, it would be nice to say hello properly.

Cheers John

steam for ever 8th July 2010 17:28

Its wierd, but quite a lot of ative members joined in june/july 2009. I did too in fact! Quite a lot has happened since that time. mNay more new build steam locos have been announced, HS1 has been completed, Duchess of sutherland is black, an Hamilton is a streamliner. A lot can happen in a year, who knows what it will be like in another years time. :)

Glad your aboard John,
I can only agree with all of the comments and say I always look forward to reading the super recollections of the past to the modern happenings and do feel the RF is unique in its friendly and professional site but often with great humour (not to mention CATS:eek:) sets it apart from the rest.
Cheers

Nice to hear your enjoying the forum John. There's plenty of topics on the forum to suit all tastes and some of the photos are superb.:)

Evening all / John, I will not be there on Sunday because we will be at Liverpool airport for the day, and I think it will be Saturday when I can nip over. Me and my mate Alan will come and have a natter with you and the lads when ever it is convenient.

It is ALL the members of the Forum who make it work. In the early days we didn't think it would make it, see posts for Winter 2006, but the vote was to keep going. I'm glad we did, so thank you to everyone who has made the Forum "happen."

Best wishes,

John H-T.
