Bramley man has a good point would you as a gaurd confront drunken youths who are more than likely carying weapons and have no problems about stabbing someone, regardless of who.I was on the Midland travelling to St Pancras when six youths were throwing 2pence pieces at people no one confronted them ,they didnt pay they jumped over the barrier at Bedord 7am and drunk or drugged.nobody was hurt.

Absolutely not. Would be daft for anyone (including conductors) onboard to take on a group of threatening people that could posess guns or anything, if anything, the couductor could call control or any station staff or BTP, so that they could board the train at the next stopping point, and go after the troublemakers. Of course, tell that to the managers of those mega stores (Tesco!) that think it is right to sell off bottles load of cheap alcohol to these sort of people in the first place. It's not as if anyone on the train is going to be in the posession of stun guns or things that could take down these people without everyone being indanger.

But then I seem to come across these 'doormen' type security staff that seem to innocent passengers and think that is fair but I highly doubt they would do the same for actual yobs.

The law system in this country is rubbish.
I mean in an asault, you cannot even defend yourself or you could risk prison.
Same with burglary you cant defend your property.
Some of these laws encourage crime!
