Gladys Scriven. No relation to other Scriven's mentioned on the Derby Railways. (Yes I have had a bit of a trawl ) :-) Her husband was on the Buses!

I've got a friend who's into ancestry to try and access railway records, but she could not find anything under Scriven or Egginton.

Ahh, thanks. I found a few Scrivens (I'm not a member but can view the indexes) but none of them were her. I wonder if she was too 'lowly' to be on the records.. I do remember her going off to work on the railways but I was too young to appreciate what she was doing unfortunately and we didn't live in Derby ourselves so it was just on our holidays.
Still. What I have now will add to my story :-) Thank you for trying.
