Last summer I just missed a train at London Victoria, so went to a bar on the concourse which had ‘outside’ tables. With a nice cool pint it was relaxing just to sit there & watch the ‘commuters’ scurrying to their platforms. All I had to do was slowly sink my pint and then stroll to my train in good time to ensure I was able to choose a ‘window’ seat.

Go on, tell us how much they charged you for your pint. I bet it was frightening...

Lytham has got the 'Station Tavern' which is, of course, the old station building! Not many real ales (a couple of pumps, tops) but still well worth a visit for the railway history side of it.

London Victoria has the only Wetherspoons that I like. I remember watching a lass with an owl trying to scare off the pigeons, only for the owl to take advantage of it's free time.

I do remember a pub near Builth Road station a few years ago - in fact it might even have been the old low level station. Nowhere near Builth town though.
And there's always Berney Arms... |
Some years back, the station building at Clifton Down (Bristol) had been turned into a thriving pub, I don't know whether it still functions as such? There's an excellent pub (the former station buffet) at Weston-super-Mare - recommended! :p

Well I had better not, I don't want to be responsible for any heart attacks. Which reminds me, the sexy little baggage of a Barmaid, did volunteer to bring my pint to the table. Poor old b****r she thought, he hasn’t got the strength to carry it. I almost had a second heart attack when she bent over! |

Dave, I had my wedding reception at Clifton Down Station 39 years ago. They did a good spread for us as they had only just opened and were trying to get noticed. Cost me around £80 according to my wife (I can't remember). I must go and have a look as to what it is being used for now, but the pub we used closed many years ago.

I often pop into Kidderminster station bar, although its not an old building it has a good old fashioned feel to it, and more importantly ---- it sells Bathams beer which is bostin!
Does anyone know how old the station buildings are? |
