Shincliffe Station, Durham

Hello all.

I'm a member of the Durham & District Model Railway Society. We're presently drawing up plans to make a 4mm scale model of Shincliffe station, located on the Leamside line. We'd like to construct the model in such a way that by simply exchanging some buildings, signals etc we could vary the era in which we could show it. Our ultimate aim is to get it onto the exhibition circuit.

If anyone can help with drawings, plans, photographs etc which could help us, then please let me know. WTTs etc would also be of interest.

Also, if anyone from the Durham area is interested in joining us, please PM me.

Thanks in advance,
Mark Coultas

Hi Shed Cat.

Shincliffe's a very good station for modelling; the track plan is interesting and there are appropriate scenic breaks (bridges) at each end of the station. We can get the whole thing onto a 16' x 8' area without too much compression.

To find its location, come out of Durham in a south-easterly direction on the A177; the station is where the railway passes under the road.

I'm trying to set up a web site at present; once up & running I'll post a URL.
