67 running light.

Today whilst in Altrincham shopping, I saw a class 67 running light engine in the chester direction at about 15:25.
I didn't catch the number, but I would love to know where it came from, where it was going and why.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
SFE

I really quite like the locos myself, despite not being British built.
Fantastic for railtours (diesel that is).
The loco I saw was also in EWS.
Perhaps a new batch could be built (in the UK at Brush) along with new MK 3 coaches.

The fastest way of finding out such info is on UK-Rail on yahoo groups but some posters on there only post in codes . They seem to know the headcode and pathway + timings for every train
It so detailed I can sit in my sickbed and watch the progress of trains as they travel on the pathway and if the weather is good see it through binoculars as it passes my house. So if you are a member you can ask you may get an answer if you are lucky

Much prefer it here for the level of friendliness

Last year I saw a 67 with barrier vehicles and a Merseyrail unit pass Wrexham General to take the Bidston line, later the loco & barriers passed north through Helsby (minus unit):-

Apparently there's only ONE access route for ex-Works units to return to the MerseyRail system; perhaps it was returning light engine from such a duty.

Talking of light 67 moves, how about this?:-
