Bruce Grove station

When working Enfield Town to Liverpool Street trains our N7s usually ran bunker first, which meant on the up trains the fireman looked out for right away from the guard. Sometimes the guards van was at the front and sometimes at the rear. Bruce Grove station was built on a curve so if the guard was at the rear when he gave right away he was not visible to the engine crew. Now there was a porter at Bruce Grove who would repeat the guards signal but not just by waving but waving and doing an Irish jig at the same time. A great character and always good for a laugh.
