Read a little about this on another site. The situation seems very complex.Either that or no-one's telling just what the complete story is.Anyone have any specific details ?

that will run and run..

Ive always thought that the time would swiftly come when many many "preserved " diesels would be found not required on preserved railways and scrapped.....didnt think that it would start with a Deltic, but there you go.....there ARE too many preserved.....and that goes for most classes now...

Not wanting to upset anyone but I always felt that there were too many 50s preserved. I think there was around 20 out of 50 which is 40% of the class. If that happens in the future with the 66s there will be around 200 of them preserved!!

hi csalem....so long as a pair of 121's get saved we'll be happy i guess...

have to agree bout the 50's...much better to have 2 or 3 (of any class) with a secure future and scrap the rest for spares....id rather see that than derelict lines of locos siupposedly "preserved"
