Hello from New Zealand

I am an ex BR steam engineman and an ex NZR railwayman having worked in various grades up to management.
I live in rural NZ and no longer work as I look after my disabled wife.
At my age I am interested in the nostalgic aspects of the old BR steam days. I was a WR fireman back in the early 60's.
Pleased to hear from people of a like mind.

Pleased to hear from you as well Peter.

Welcome to the forum and looking forward to reading your posts.

Nostalgia is particularly welcome. (that's a hint, by the way!)

Welcome aboard Peter. I am also old enough to be nostalgic for steam.

But if you can post pictures, I would love to see what is running on NZ tracks these days.

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the forum. I'm also an ex-fireman/driver of the Rhodesian Railways. Some photos of NZ steam would be welcome as well as info on NZ Steam working practices as compared to British and Rhodesian railways. both Locojoe and Billyboy have posted a lot of interesting detail about footplate working in the UK. How do they sit with your footplate experience's.
