Intersection Bridge Removal

Hi all, I thought that I would alert all of you that don't know that the world's first railway bridge ever to cross over another in the world is about to be taken away to make way for electrification....

The "intersection bridge": just west of St Helens Junction Stn on the "Liverpool - Manchester" line is about to be removed. Work has already started and although I have no further information it could be as early as this very weekend!

It is true that the "Bridge" has not been a pretty sight for many a year, and is, the second on the site since the St Helens to Garston Dock line was built, but now is your last chance to photograph it.......I suspect, but do not know for certain.....that this weekend, probably Sat-Sunday 25-26th Feb is your Last chance!....

Another bit of history going. We must hope that "progress" makes for a better railway. In the meantime photograph like mad.
I wish I'd kept all my 60's photos.

A great shame it has been removed, i managed to take a lot of pictures of the bridge itself and the line before various parts were removed/demolished over the last 3 years or so. Would you have in your possesion any historical pictures of the bridge or the line??
