Wow! They havn't cleared all the litter have they? Wakefield Kirkgate must be the dirtiest station on the national network, it always seems to be full of litter. Is there a MeDonalds nearby?

It's starting to look really nice now. New glass roof on Platform 1, old roof knocked down and replaced on platform 2. New lighting, even got some boards showing what the next train is! Work on the station buildings to begin in the new year.

I remember passing through this station on an SRPS class 37 hauled railtour in 2003 and was amazed at how grubby and rundown it was. It was like some stations were in the 1970s and 80s. I'm glad to hear its been improved now.
