Sorry, I don't know of any such course, but welcome to the forum anyway. Coincidentally, if you want to learn about steam, this forum is a great place to do it, I'm sure that we'd all be more than willing to answer any questions that you might have.

There are a lot of railway societies. eg SLS and RCTS who hold branch meetings and visits- but these can be a bit specialised and intense, even for me

Of course there is the National Railway Museum at York which does occasional public talks

But much of this can be learnt at a preserved railway just by getting involved - even just a little

Many preserved railways do driver and firing courses, usually mid week, at a very high price ( I mean the courses are good value, but expensive )

Hope this helps give you ideas

Sorry but as I live in the West Country I too am unable to help you, but as Pavorossi has said, we will help all we can. I'm sure you will find the answer to most questions on this site, but there is always someone who can let you know where to find the answer to any question if it is something a bit beyond us (not had many questions go unanswered, in fact I can't remember one). All that aside, welcome to the forum.

Try not to give yourself away by drooling on the beautiful shiny stuff at the NRM

Oh go on then, the rest of us do.
