First an answer to Klordger1900's question, There were no steam locos on the R.R with a speedometer or a stop watch. All footplate men were issued with a good wrist watch.

Locojoe, there were two hydrostatic lubricators on a Garratt, one on each side of the cab. One feed the front loco and the other feed the rear one. We called them 'sight feed lubricators'. Only the 20th Class locos had mechanical lubricators. The Garratts were the only locos to have Ajax steam doors except again the 20th Class as it had a mechanical stoker.You will also have noticed that we could open the window in front of both the driver and fireman for a bit of cooling air.
