I need some information about 45571 South Africa, 45595 Southern Rhodesia & 45621 Northern Rhodesia. When these loco were on BR's books, around the 1950's until they were cut up where they black or red?

Evening Syd, I do not think they were red and it is a toss up if they were Black or Brunswick green, I will try and find out for you.

I have just had a look Syd and I can only find B/W shots of these loco`s, the only one that looks green is 45595, the other two appear to be black.

Thanks for the update Chris. I did not even know they existed until I stumbled across a site that makes name plates and smoke box numbers for them.

This site has extensive photo collection of the class plus details of their shed allocations, unfortunately it didn't extend to livery.

Hi Syd,

I still haven't finished my survey of Jubillees in BR Black, got distracted by other things!

5571 in LMS Red to 4.11.49, BR smoke box number plate in Gill Sans fitted 15.10.48. Then BR Green, 4.11.49.

5595 in LMS lined black. BR Cabside number in 8" Gill Sans and BR smoke box number plate from 12.9.49 (Gill Sans). BR Green from 26.6.52.

5621 BR lined black 27.10.48, 8" Gill Sans cab side numbers. BR Green from 19.4.52. 10" Gill Sans cabside numbers.

Sorce: The Jubillee 4-6-0's: Ray Townsin.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

Thank you all for the information gents. I now need to buy 3 BR Green Jubilees and the smoke box numbers plus name plates. Not all at once or she (who spends well at M&S) will give me GBH of the ear for a long time.
