Identifying the Norseman Train
Hi everyone I am new to this forum. I recall as a young lad back in the early 60s taking the train from Kings Cross to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne then on to the North Sea crossing to Norway. I am trying to identify the class of train that would have taken me from KX. I believe it was BR East. I have managed to find out through the York Railway museum that the headboard of the train was called 'NORSEMAN'. It was a summer service three times a week. The headboard used to be on the LNER service in the 1930s but in the late 50s it was used by BR. I would be grateful if someone more knowledgeable could point me in the right direction. I would love to identify the class of train so that I could purchase a Brachmann or Hornby model of the train. Many thanks
