hornby DCC

hi all,
1) i have got a hornby elite unit and i have just bought a points and accessory decoder to use for my new layout, on my new layout i have 3 points left and 1 signal left which i want to put on the decoder, i have successfully programmed the decoder but i cant change the CV settings for 1 of the outputs to give a constant supply of electric to run the signal, i have followed all instructions been in contact with hornby (not much help) and i still cant change the settings. can anyone tell me if there is an easier way to change the settings???

2) i have also got hornby railmaster to use with my elite controller and laptop, i have sent my controller away to hornby for an update and have it back now. they said it works all fine and follow these procedures into install and make your controller work with your laptop. i have done everything they have said and my laptop still doesnt reconise the device (controller) (same problem as before the update)

does anyone know any solutions to my problems? or shall i go to the hornby factory in margate and show them the problems?

Have you tried a factory reset on the decoder? Details of how to do it should be in the paper work. I had a similar problem with another make of decoder and my NCE system.

Rule number 1 seems to be if there is a problem do a factory reset. I should know this from working with early computers!

It is one of the observations I was due to post in my "Modular Layout" Thread but haven't had time, as I have been very busy recently.

If this is not the problem let me know and I will talk to a friend who has an Elite, has set up Hornby accessory decoders and uses Railmaster.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
