N gauge
I've got a 00 hornby layout which I've recently started improving and I am set on turning it into a model village (or something like that). to do this, i've raised all the track and stations up above the baseboard level on a sort of embankment, which means that there is space underneath. I was thinking of putting another 00 gauge line there but I thought it would be more interesting to have an N gauge one. But to this i'm completely new and have no past experience of anything other than 00. can anyone give me some tips for starting off? I'd also like to know things like how good N gauge trains are on gradients and what is the best skockist to buy from.

Advice - get a magnifying glass and don't drink too much the night before! I've got a little N gauge end-to-end layout which provides endless shunting fun in a 6 foot by 6 inch space, but my ambitions to add full semaphone signals foundered after the cat sat on the 1st one I got working.
