First visit of Intercity 125 to East Lancs Railway 12 October

First visit of Intercity 125 to East Lancs Railway and timetable alteration

The East Lancashire Railway in conjunction with UK Railtours are pleased to confirm the first ever visit of an Intercity 125 (HST). The East Midlands Trains operated HST from London St Pancras International is scheduled to arrive on Saturday 12th October and will make a return trip over the whole line. Selected timing are as follows:

Heywood: Approx 12:50

Bury: 13:15 - 13:40

Rawtenstall: 14:10

The return trip departs Rawtenstall at 14:25 arriving back at Bury for 14:53. The train is then serviced at Bury until departure for London St Pancras International at 17:30.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a private charter train with no access for the general public.

The East Lancashire Railway will be running its standard blue train service on Saturday 12th October utilising BR standard loco No.80080 and BR Deltic Class 55 D9016 Gordon Highlander. There will be a slight alteration to the timetable with the scheduled 12:15 departure from Heywood to Rawtenstall now departing at 12:10. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

What a nice surprise at Heywood this morning when my favorite Deltic, Alycidon hove into view with the 11.30 train. Even better, she was joined at Bury by Gordon Highlander, and the two of them topped and tailed the stopping service to Rawtenstall. A nice addition to the scheduled service.
