I've just got to the pre-OAP stage (60) so at least my pills won't cost me anything from now on.

Hi Philip I take so many pills nowadays I've had to buy a pill arranger (a plastic thing with compartments for each day) otherwise I forget what I've taken.

No, sorry. That was before my time. I only moved to East London, when I got married, in 1970. They still had the old 'post steam' DMU's then. As they also had on the North Woolwich line

That sounds nice! I can remember being woken up by diesel trains coming along very late at night (about 10 years ago) with extremely heavy loads which use to shake the foundations of my house which backed onto Queens Rd Station on the Gospel Oak / Barking Line. Does anybody know what those heavy loads might have been? I always thought it might be materials going to the Dagenham Ford Car Works. I only come to this conclusion because the Ford closure seemed to coincide with a reduction in the heavy trains going past.
