Hi folks! My first experience with steam was in my youth, employed as a fireman at the Stratford Depot of LNER. Before enlisting in the RAF I worked on 030 'Buckjumpers', N7 tanks, J16's, 'Claude Hamiltons', 1500's and 2800's - all using Liverpool Street and the Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire destinations. Period: 1942-45.

I will second that John. You obviously caught us all sleeping when you joined. I am sure we would all like to hear some of your stories about life on the footplate.
