Low loader trailer breaks carrying 6695!

The low loader was carrying GWR 56XX 6695 from Swanage to the West Somerset Railway when the trailer broke and collapsed onto the road causing significant damage to the road surface. The news report states that the loco appears to be undamaged.

Could have put a lot of stress on the frames. Do we know who the transport belongs to?

I think you will find the haulage firm is Reids Freight.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the loco has apparently suffered some damage:

The extent of the damage is not reported and possibly not yet fully assessed. Interesting that it was taken to Williton, WSR for assessment instead of returning to Swanage - maybe there was a possiblity of the loco being undamaged & could have then run at the gala.
In the end, 6695 didn't run at the gala - 5643 was drafted in from Ribble Steam Railway as a late replacement.

5643 certainly was drafted in at the last minute and it was a different carrier who took her doe to Minehead, it's only a flying visit though as we are getting her back this week.
Further to my earlier post it was Reids who had the unfortunate accident, we use them and it was them who recently took 4979 (Wooton Hall) from Appleby down to her new home at the Ribble Railway, and yes restoration has now begun basically on the tender.
