airbrush recommendations?

Having got sick of railmatch aerosols clogging or not spraying properly, maybe due to the cold weather, I've decided to switch to acrylics for spraying & weathering my locos and stock, and I've decided to buy a decent mid-price airbrush.

The trouble is, I'm not sure which one to buy. Initially I'll be using compressed air in tins but I might buy a compressor at a later date. I wasn't wanting to spend more than about £60 for the airbrush itself. I have used a Badger economy airbrush in the past but would like something a bit better if possible.

Anyone got any ideas?

Try looking in Machine Mart,
I had one until our daughter nicked it when at college where she used it for body painting. I hasten to add she was on a Media Make Up course and it was used at various exhibitions and competitions she was involved in, that was the downside. The good thing is that after she finished and eventually returned home my Air Brush was not exactly returned but now sits in the box she kept the oil free compressor in she bought. So I guess good old Dad has has actually gained from her expensive education that is not being used anymore.

Hi, I use a badger airbrush. The advantage is that this manufacturer standardises spares across its range, Squires stock it all. You will need a compressor though. The results a terrific once you master the techniques. Very important to be carefull with all the preparation and the cleaning afterwards. That takes all the time.

I use a 'Headhog', widely available from Boots etc.

...Oh sorry, I thought you said 'hairbrush recommendations'.

I won't be needing a headhog then.
