Farnborough North help!

I wonder if any of the good folk can help solve a local "mystery".The station can be be approached on foot via a track named "The Hatches".On one side of the platform is a builders yard that used to a farm(Homestead Farm) on the other side are ornate and Victorian iron fences and gates, seemingly enclosing nothing! A long shot, but can any railway buff cast light upon these mystery "gates"?
