Saying Hello.

Hi All,
Just joined and setting up a post.

I am a serial life long Gricer, Steam lover and occasional model railway operator (OK playing with trains..)

Staried as a young boy in Sheffield and Doncaster just loving trains and railways. Getting older and in the RAF with much rail travel. Later life, jobs, a Wife and family rather overtook any real activity other that reading and looking on from ststion platforms occasionally. Working in London helped with commuting and the occasional 'grice' as a terminus over lunch.

But now later on in life there is a little more time to relight the fires again (domestic duties allowing) and here we are. Back on the rails...

Hi Gilbert and welcome to the Forum. I grew up not very far away from Sheffield and used to love the station but it, together with its northern and southern approaches, has changed beyond all recognition after all these years. I don't know what part of Hertfordshire you live in but I travelled just once over part of the Buntingford branch before it closed to passengers in 1964. Look forward to reading your posts.
