Call me what you like but my sympathy is with the two passengers who lost there lives.
We always have a reason why these things happen, and it is never ever the fact that a nutcase was behind the wheel.
I am fed up of these people who drive like idiots, and the fact he was stopped shortly before the accident doing 108 mph shows he is a total idiot, making excuses about road conditions, or bad light, or the crossing not being as it should be. The truth of the matter is that two people have been cut down in the prime of life by a bloody idiot, and NO sentence is harsh enough to compensate for that.
Paul.

Basically, until we as a society begin to think of driving as a privilege, not a right there will always be some who blatantly abuse the right to drive. You have to feel sympathy for the innocent people in a situation like this!!

Richard.

I know this level xing from a train drivers perspective and as far as I am concerned the crossing is perfectly safe.

Not only is the crossing fitted with lights it also has claxons.

Whether he pleaded guilty from the start, or showed remorse for his total stupidity, HE was responsible for his friends lives and should have STILL been jailed for LIFE. Never mind banning him from driving, because THAT doesn't stop people from getting behind the wheel and doing it again, so jail the toe-rags for life and I mean LIFE. HE took two and will no doubt be out after serving just over a year, while his friends have NO choice other than to stay where they are and in the World of Spirit as I know it. Rant over and sorry guys.
