Hi From Nottinghamshire

Hi there,
I find myself at the reminiscing age !
I lived as a child in a small village that straddled the Notts & Derbys border with 2 railway lines which ran through the village . I have done a liitle research on the www and originally it was the LD&ECR .

I suppose now my intro could become a quiz , name that village !!!

Railways where a major part of the area and of course coal mines, there was a big engine shed a few miles away and also a wagon works.
The village i lived in had a lovely station building which i think was closed under The Beeching plan, i only remember it deralict

Steam trains trundled past our house (more or less) my research and fading memory tells me Robinson O4`s and i hope someone can tell me others.

Then the diesel age began,as a schoolkid we could see the diesel shed and a fair part of track from the school field (in junior school the the line ran past our playground ,counting the trucks became the norm)

I hope i haven`t waffled on to much

Cheers Eagle 125

Hello eagle 125, welcome to the forum, at a guess I think the village could be Shirebrook or Langwith.

Langwith

My fading memory recalls black locomotives trundling past our house and when i was about 6ish the Flying Scotsman flew past, it would the heading towards Langwith Junction i am guessing it was around 1966/7

Nostalgia at its best !!

Can you tell me more of that era ?

Cheers Tony
