bury 504 emu

bury 504 emu

does anyone know if the bury electric 504 is running on the east lancs?remember this train running through crumpsall before closure to metrolink-would be nice to go on it again.

At the moment, the EMU is out of use, but it's being overhauled at the moment. I believe one carriage is now complete internally, and the other one is coming along well. I shall keep my ear to the ground for you, and report back once I find out something more.

No, but we used to have two 504, and in the early days of the society apparently they could rig up a class 25 between the two, which would form a train which could be driven from any of the six cabs. I believe they used to refer to that particular set up as a DEXTREMU (Diesel EX Third Rail Electric Multiple Unit). Unfortunately, one of the 504s was owned by a private individual and has since been scrapped.
