Steam Engines returned to Bristol from Turkey

I just heard on the local radio...2 steam engines have arrived in Bristol from Turkey looking a bit down at the heel and are going to be restored, one in Wales, one in North East.

I believe the pair were repatriated by the Churchill 8F Company, the same team who in 2010 completed the restoration of ex-Turkish no.45160 at Toddington on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

The full story is in the new edition of Steam Railway. One of the 8F's is going into store in the old steam shed at Barry (home to what's left of the 'Barry Ten') and the other is to be restored at Ian Storey's workshop near Morpeth in Northumberland once the restoration of Standard 4: 76084 is complete. It may be displayed at Locomotion on its way north. The loco has been bought by a private individual.

Best wishes,

John H-T.
