Hi folks, a quick intro from a fellow enthusiast.

I've decided it's time to join your forum as a means to hopefully answer some of the many rail related questions I have, and perhaps contribute to some of the interesting and topical discussions.
However, all in good time, so before that here's a little bit more about me.
My main interest, since my teens in the early 70's is diesels, particularly the Deltics but not exclusively as I have a healthy interest in steam, both standard and narrow gauge.
On of my major passions though is the Fell loco and the amazing differential mechanical transmission method it employed, so I may be seeking out a few answers in that area. (Yes' I've spent loads of time studying and playing with the working model in the NRM exhibit store)
However, once I've had time to search through the many topics on the forum I'm sure I'll be asking a few questions from forum members.
Many thanks,

Frankie.

Hello Franki and welcome to the Railway Forum. I don't know much about British Railways as I did my railway time firing and driving in Rhodesia.

Many thanks everyone for the welcome.
Yes Ian, I do get up to Barrow Hill occasionally, but sadly not often enough. Due to work commitments and spending time away from home I am one of the less active DPS members.

Yo M.C., welcome to the forum. I too love the diesels from the 1970s, when I was a lad.

Don't know diddly-squat about the Fell Loco though, so you'll have to share your knowledge with us.

There's always something new to learn on here.

Best wishes, Flying Pig

Hi FP, thanks for the welcome and yes, I may at some stage start to share my knowledge of the Fell loco to "test the water" so to speak, but not so soon after joining.
I'm enjoying the many and varied topics of established members at the moment.
