Dapol engines

Hi guys,

Most of my N Gauge engines are second hand and from Grafar. Last year for Xmas I was given a brand new Dapol 4-4-0 M7. It's a great little engine but it has a habit of wheel spinning on the curves. As my curves, at that time, were 1st radius I asumed that was the problem.

However my new layout has 2nd radius curves and still the engine wheel spins coming out of the curve. It usually pulls my three Minitrix carriages and even does the same with 5-6 wagons.

As the main body is plastice, and not metal like Grafar, I can only assume that there is not enough weight on the engine itself to pull the carriages/wagons arround the curves. I suppose I will have to open up the chassis and try and put in some extra weight.

Is this a common problem with Dapol engines? I really like the small Terrier engine but this wheel spinning problem is putting me off buying any more Dapol engines.

Alex
