Thumbs up Rebuilding Kings Cross - Prog on iplayer

It was on again tonight and is still available if any of you missed it first time around. Be prepared to grind your teeth a little, or lose the will to live, at some of the stuff that goes on

This was al fannyblow and wind really. EH, whilst a worthwhile organisation do tend to be an interfering old busybody which puts up costs. The refurbishment of Liverpool Street, Victoria, Newcastle Central and others was achieved without detracting from the character of the sites concerned. Having said that a station is better if refurbished with minimum alterations to style and decor. It can be done. A good tidy up and lick of paint can do wonders.

Hi Enigma
Can we disagree about Liverpool st they should never have been allowed to demolish the Bishopsgate trainshed and build an office block over the station
I thick the Bishopsgate side platforms 10 to 18 is clostrophic and depressing whilst the enfield side retains all it old charm
I would have thought they could have built the offices above the trainshed roof with lifts up to what would be 2nd floor level in the offices

I have now watched the programme, and have to say that I really liked the final design for the booking hall, brackets and all.

We will agree to disagree then. I think the present Liverpool Street is far superior to that tatty gloomy old wreck it replaced personally.

It does look so gloomy though but hopefully something good will happen to the station

It's the lighting lad. Makes the new place look rather like a Tower Dungeon.
